Culvert and chimney base

During the excavation works for the new link road we have discovered some old buried brick culverts. The pictures show the culverts with the tops removed and also what looks like the bases of some chimneys leading us to beleive the culverts were used as vents. These are remnants of the extensive iron works that used to occupy the site. Tees Archaeology was called in to document all that was found. More information on the past use of the site can be found on their website http://www.teesarchaeology.com/new/ironmaster.html
